Wahlström has a background as a musician in a few types of improvised music in a few different collaborations. Meeting musicians , making music in Improvised music, Swedish folk music and folk music from other parts of the world has been a recurring and perspective-giving to his compositional work and musicianship. In his compositions in contemporary art music and EAM it might, or might not be possible to hear connections between the different parts in his musical personality.
